5th Meeting Point Television
The Göteborg International Film Festival is proud to present the seminar Meeting Point Television, February 4-5, 2010. Our guests will give on-stage interviews and lectures, take part in discussions and present works in progress – all with a focus on new trends in film & TV drama, the success of Nordic Crime, financing & funding politics and the importance of comedy. Welcome to one and a half days of TV drama!
Armando Iannucci, UK, director, producer, scriptwriter and comedy heavyweight, has written and produced numerous critically acclaimed television and radio comedy shows and recently released his first feature film In The Loop, will present recent work and give an on-stage-interview about the difficult and interesting challenge of making the audience laugh about serious issues. Making comedy shows that keep an audience (Presented in cooperation with MediaXchange).
Antony Root, UK, award-winning television executive and producer with a long experience as producer and head of drama in the UK and the Unites States has an eye for New trends in film and television drama and will talk about the latest influences within in drama production. (Presented in cooperation with MediaXchange).
Stephen McDonogh, UK, responsible for raising and securing sources of production funding and finance for BBC Worldwide as Head of Co-Production Funding. McDonogh will show material and share his experience about the BBC approach on international co-productions. Co-production funding in Film and Television (Presented in cooperation with MediaXchange).
Prof. Lothar Mikos, Germany, active as author, director and editor before becoming professor of Television Studies at the University of Film and Television Konrad Wolf in Potsdam-Babelsberg, will shed some light on The fascination for Nordic crime in Germany and discuss the future of the genre together with Nordic producers.
