David Madden, president at Fox Television Studios, and Nancy Cotton, Senior Vice President at Fox Television Studios, are headlining NFM TV Drama Vision (formerly Meeting Point Television) at the Göteborg International Film Festival, February 2, 2012.
For the 7th time we are delighted to present our International TV drama seminar where the TV industry gets together and exchanges knowledge and ideas for the future. This year we focus on how Nordic drama travels both as remakes and in international distribution as well as on the basis of all TV drama: the writing process. Welcome to NFM TV Drama Vision!
The story behind The Killing
Danish internationally successful crime series Forbrydelsen was remade into Emmy-nominated The Killing in the US. David Madden, president, and Nancy Cotton, Senior Vice President, of Fox Television Studios, will talk about the process of remaking the Danish drama series Forbrydelsen, the current huge interest for Nordic material and talent in the US as well as give us a peek into how big networks in the United States work with developing, writing and producing. Presented in collaboration with TV4.
What makes Nordic TV Drama travel?
David Madden and Nancy Cotton will be joined in a panel by Piv Bernth, creative producer for Forbrydelsen at DR as well as the producer of Swedish-Danish Bron (The Bridge), Lars Blomgren from Filmlance. Bron will become an English/French remake, The Tunnel. Also on the panel Åsa Sjöberg, Head of Drama TV4 and Stefan Baron, Head of Drama SVT.
Writing Hollywood
After spending six weeks on the inside and interviewing 45 television writers, Associate Professor Patricia Phalen gives us a unique view into the harsh culture of the legendary ”writers’ rooms” at the biggest US TV series.
The Artists
Belgian crossmedia pioneer Peter De Maegd, known for transmedia series Where is Gary? and Miss Homeless, is back with his new project The Artists. Co-produced by six public broadcasters from Northern Europe, the five-episode transmedia series is a massive production with multiple languages spoken. Presented in collaboration with The Erich Pommer Institute, SVT and Media Desk Sweden.
Works in Progress
DR gives a peek into Forbrydelsen III, the final installment of the Danish crime series discussed in length during the whole day. TV4 will present Kontoret, the Swedish remake of The Office, which in Sweden has been made as a spin-off to highly successful original series Solsidan and NRK shows us exclusive material from their upcoming political thriller series Mammon.
