Göteborg International Film Festival 2010

The work with selecting films for the 2010 edition of Göteborg International Film Festival started already at the film festival in Berlin, Germany, in February 2009, the week after the closing of the 2009 GIFF.

Among the festivals that the festival’s selection team has attend during the spring are Africa’s biggest film festival: Fespaco in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, the festivals in Istanbul, Turkey and Plzen, Czech Republic, Tribeca Film Festival in New York, USA and Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy.

The real take off for the programming work was the film festival in Cannes, May 13-24. Seven persons from the selection team were intensly busy with watching lots of new films in the official program, sidebars and at the vast film market.

Since many decisions on the film program are taken late in the process, it is still to early to say anything about what will be shown in Göteborg 2010. But the goal of course is to make an even better program than the fantastic year of 2009!
