Fund films selected for Toronto

We are proud to inform you that three films supported by the Göteborg International Film Festival Fund have been selected for Toronto International Film Festival; Headshot, In My Mother's Arms and The Forgiveness of Blood.
In the Vanguard section is Headshot by the Thai director Pen-ek Ratanaruang, a thriller about the corruption that infects both Bangkok and humans. The Vanguard section screens films that defy convention through twisting genres, styles and narrative structures.
In my Mother's Arms by Atia and Mohamed Al-Daradji is a documentary about a small orphanage in Baghdad’s most dangerous district. The film has its world premiere at Toronto Festival in the section Real to Reel. In 2007 GIFFF supported Mohamed's documentary War, Love, God & Madness. Mohamed Al-Daradji is Variety’s choice for “Middle Eastern filmmaker of the year”.
The Foregiveness of Blood by the director Joshua Marston (also known for Maria Full of Grace) is in the World Cinema Section. It’s a powerful story about a blood feud in a small town in northern Albania. During 2011 the film has been and is going to be screened at several international festivals around the world. At this year's Berlinale the film recieved a Silver Bear Award for best script. The world theatrical premiere is in Albania on September 16.
The Göteborg International Film Festival Fund supports, in cooperation with Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), filmmakers who live and work in developing countries. Since 1998 GIFF has supported more than 150 film projects. For more information about the fund, click here.
