The official artwork is unveiled!

The official artwork of the 35th Göteborg International Film Festival is unveiled. The artist behind the artwork is Ann-Sofi Sidén. At a press conference an additional collaboration with Ann-Sofi Sidén and the art production company Mobile Art Production (MAP) was also presented, as well as two of the festival's newly released books by Amanda Ooms and Hynek Pallas.
Ann-Sofi Sidén about her work:
- While working on my project Curtain Callers, I saw the Royal Dramatic Theatre tailors philosophising about the buttons and with mannered voices ... I then understood that they can not be reduced to just buttons. They really are characters in themselves and a seemingly small detail that is more important than you can imagine. Because of the festival’s 35 year anniversary this year, I chose, along with Stefania Malmsten, gold buttons. And hopefully there's a gold button for each film at the festival.
Ann-Sofi Sidén is the 21st artist to create the artwork for the festival. First up, 1992, was Ernst Billgren. This year's official artwork will be celebrated with an opening party at the Stora Teatern tonight.

At the press conference, two newly released books were also unveiled: Amanda Ooms book containing illustrations and text about her experiences from the festival 2011, and journalist and film critic Hynek Pallas' dissertation, "Whiteness in Swedish films 1989-2010”, from the Department Cinema Studies at Stockholm University. It is the first Swedish book on the subject and Marit Kapla, artistic director at the Göteborg International Film Festival, comments on the publication:
- We hope the will book provide a basis for a constructive discussion on how Sweden and Swedes are presented in Swedish film, about how skin colour comes into play in terms of who is portrayed as an individual and who are depicted in groups.
