The scene is the Malaysian countryside. The prodigal son returns after a few years in the city to the family's very humble Karaoke pub. As viewers we become part of the pub life, just another face or voice accompanied by the trite love songs flowing from the TV set. Feature film debutant Chris Chong Chan Fui honours the title of the film by keeping the people in the film slightly out of synch with each other, just as the subtitle and singer during a Karaoke session. It gets even better when our protagonist starts to appear in the films seen on the TV screen. An irresistable film!
