International Film Submission
The international film submission is now closed.
NOTE: The following does only apply to non-Swedish films. Swedish feature films, documentaries and shorts can be submitted here.
How to submit your film
Many filmmakers from all over the world want to submit their films to GIFF – a fact that makes us grateful and proud!
For our 36th Göteborg International Film Festival, January 25 - February 4, 2013, the international film submission is open until September 30th 2012.
We take applications for:
1. Feature films available on 35mm, DCP, Digibeta PAL, Beta SP PAL or HDCam (not HDCam SR!). The length must be 72 minutes minimum.
2. Documentaries available on 35mm, Digibeta PAL, Beta SP PAL or HD print. The length must be 45 minutes minimum.
Please note that we do not take applications for international shorts. But we do have an online short film competition, Dragon Award New Talent. You can submit your short film short film to this competition from September 16th.
To be considered for GIFF 2013 the submitted film must have had its first public screening after January 1, 2012. Please note that any screening of the film in Sweden prior to the Festival automatically disqualifies the film from participating in the Göteborg International Film Festival.
All applications must be made through our website: www.giff.se. GIFF charges an application fee of 30 Euro. This is an administrative fee, and does not guarantee that the film will be selected. The only way to submit a film to GIFF 2013 is to complete the online submission form, pay the entry fee with a credit card and send a DVD of your film to our office. The entry fee is non-refundable.
Both the DVD and the exhibition print/DCP/tape must have English subtitles (if the original dialogue is not entirely in English). Unfortunately GIFF doesn’t have the possibility to return the DVD’s, or to leave detailed feedback on your film other than accepted/not accepted. The program committee's decision of accepted/not accepted will be announced to you on December 31, 2012 or earlier.
If your film corresponds with the above mentioned criterions, you are most welcome to submit to our up-coming 36th Göteborg International Film Festival.
Göteborg International Film Festival has two competitions for feature films:
- The Nordic Film Award - open for feature films from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark.
- The Ingmar Bergman International Debut Award - open for feature films by first and second time directors.
